Section 357 IPC — Assault or criminal force in attempt wrongfully to confine a person
Replaced from 1 July 2024 by BNS 135 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Offences committed on or before 30 June 2024 are still charged under the IPC.
The law now: BNS 135 — Assault or criminal force in attempt to wrongfully confine a person
Whoever assaults or uses criminal force to any person, in attempting wrongfully to confine that person, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine which may extend to five thousand rupees, or with both.
