BNSS s. 531(2)(a) saves only proceedings already pending on 30 June 2024, which continue under the CrPC. Most High Courts treat anything filed on or after 1 July 2024 as a new proceeding under the BNSS, even for an older FIR — which is why this format cites Section 528 BNSS. Rajasthan High Court has tied it to the FIR date; check your High Court.
